Real-Time Trace

Real-Time Trace lets the user display variables and capture debug messages in dedicated windows from target microcontroller hardware. This feature:

• Greatly enhances the debugging capabilites of µVision when connected to the target device.
• Offers the user new approaches for analyzing real-time code running on the target device.

The µVision debugger displays the Trace information it receives from the target device in the following ways:

• Trace Status Bar - a continuous display of Trace output and status messages.
• Logic Analyzer Window - a graphical display of up to 4 global or static variables over time.
• ITM Viewer Window - for viewing debug or other program-specific information from the application running on the target device.
• RTX Event Viewer Window - for viewing RTX Kernel task switching events over time.

Detailed trace infomation may be displayed using the following Trace windows:

• Trace Records Window - a real-time log of processor activity.
• Exception Trace Window - a statistical display of processor exceptions based on trace events.
• Event Counters Window - a resettable count of user-selected events.
