HCC Announces Embedded Flash File System for 8051's

HCC-Embedded is pleased to announce availability of the EFFS-Thin Embedded Flash File System. EFFS-Thin is designed for 8-bit embedded systems with limited resources. It is a scalable, highly optimized file system featuring:

  • Support for FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32.
  • Long Filename Support.
  • High Scalability - Select only those features you need.
  • Small Footprint.
  • Low Memory Resource Usage.
  • Media Error Handling.
  • Full PC Compatibility.
  • ANSI C Compliant Source Code.

The scalability allows a DOS-compatible file system on an 8051 with:

  • Code footprint < 4k,
    Data/Stack %lt; 1.5k with minimum functionality.
  • Code footprint 20k,
    Data/Stack approximately 4k with all options including disk formatting.

It is a simple task for the developer to select the required functionality and build the optimal file system for each product.
