MCBX51: Does MCBX51 Replace MCB251?

Information in this article applies to:

  • MCB251 Evaluation Board
  • MCBx51 Evaluation Board

QUESTION

Is the MCBx51 Evaluation Board a replacement for the MCB251?

ANSWER

Yes. The MCBx51 board is essentially the same as the MCB251 Revision 2 board. The only difference is the contents of the PAL and the contents of the ROM (that contains the monitor images).

The MCB251 board has been obsoleted by the MCBx51 board. All programs that worked on the MCB251 will run on the MCBx51 board with little or no modifications. The MCBx51 board supports many more 8051 devices with special MON51 configurations that are already programmed in the on-board ROM.
