µVISION DEBUGGER: Access Breakpoints on Silicon Labs/Cygnal Hardware

SYMPTOM

I'm trying to set a memory access breakpoint on my Silicon Laboratories (formerly known as Cygnal) based target hardware, using their JTAG adapter. But µVision responds with the error:

Error 73: unsupported breakpoint type

CAUSE

The serial/JTAG adapter from Silicon Laboratories and its associated driver DLL only allow the use of hardware breakpoints. This means that the only breakpoints that can be set are on execution.

RESOLUTION

Unfortunately, access breakpoints cannot be used with this serial/JTAG adapter.
