µVISION DEBUGGER: Event Recorder shows "Error E202: Syntax error..."

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • MDK v5.24a
  • MDK Middleware USB Component

QUESTION

I'm using the MDK version 5.24a and I try to use the Event Recorder to analyze the USB communication. However, I only see errors in the Value column of the Event Recorder window. Please see:

Expression: 'val1.B0'; E202: Syntax error - '.' qualifier - identifer expected

How can I see the real values of these USB events?

ANSWER

This is a known issue in MDK 5.24a. Only the USB middleware component is affected. The Network, Flash File System and the CMSIS RTOS 5 events are shown as expected.

RESOLUTION

This was fixed in MDK version 5.25 pre-release or later. Please download the latest version from the download page. Read more about the 5.25 release here.

Users that cannot upgrade can download the attached ZIP file and extract the file UV4.exe into the UV4 folder of the MDK 5.24a installation folder. This is usually C:\Keil_v5\UV4\. This patch must only be applied for MDK 5.24a.
